"The recipe for perpetual ignorance is:
be satisfied with your opinions
and content with your knowledge."

I feel this need to increase my knowledge and really stretch myself this year. Not in any particular area, just overall or in whatever areas seem to grab me. I find that at this stage in my life with two little kids, it is too easy to only be absorbed in the raising of them and be completely oblivious to the world around me. As much as I love this, I don't want to lose my sense of self or my place in a world outside my little life. Perhaps I have been feeling the need extra strongly because it is an election year, and the need to vote intelligently causes us to step it up a notch when it comes to what we know about our country and the people running it. Either way these are some of the thoughts running through my head and regardless of where they come from I'd like to remember them.

Couldn't agree more and I think it is because it's an election year because I've been feeling the same way. I took a photography class today and as I was sitting in my 3hr class I started thinking how awesome it was to be there learning. Weird...I really miss that stuff.
