I'm not a red person

I do appreciate the color red as an accent in my wardrobe: red shoes, clutch, coat. But in my home? No thank-you. So surprise, surprise when I found myself loving this kitchen. It is so cheerful. Maybe I like it because it is not a warm red and there is a rather flashy high gloss? Either way it is fabulous and such a nice addition of color.

I have concluded that for me the most important feature of a home is good light. Good design is probably a close second. This kitchen appears to have both. Maybe one more set of windows on the left exterior wall to achieve absolute perfection?

This could be my favorite kitchen ever.

Large "counter top overhangs" are a must, regardless of the material used.

I think I like the look of "horizontal cupboards" on top and all drawers on the bottom.

Fantastic use of color

I have a serious tendency toward neutrals. These little spots of color are so bright and cheerful - I think that I might have to start consciously adding a little more brightness into my life...

Pull-Out Table

Rather than have a dining table that collected dust, this homeowner designed a table that pulls out from under the kitchen counter and can seat anywhere from the daily2-4 all the way to the special occasion 16. I like the idea in theory.

I love white dishes - keeping them out for easy access would be nice.

ELKAY Sinks

I've been spending lots of time in the kitchen doing all sorts of wonderful summer harvest things, and more than ever I am determined to eventually have my ideal kitchen. Ideal for me means highly practical with all sorts of wonderfully useful details, plus appealing and simple design.

These sinks from ELKAY practically have me drooling. I would love to not have to grab a colander or sieve to rinse a few things or to have to balance multiple large items I want to clean at the same time.

I would use this middle ledge all the time.

Cherner Barstools

We would like different barstools and I wouldn't mind using Norman Cherner's Barstools in wood...

...or metal...

or the stool he designed for Konweiser Inc.

KitchenAid Steam Oven

KitchenAid has an Oven with Steam-Assist Technology. I don't attempt artisan breads on a regular basis, but knowing that I wouldn't have to keep spraying the sides of my oven and refreshing pans of hot water would make me happy.

Chalk Walls

Having the artistically inclined daughter that I do makes me want to put a chalkboard/wall in our kitchen to use as a creative corner. This dining area does it even better than I could have imagined. It is nice to see kid-friendly homes that look amazing.

I love the lighting too. Actually, I love it all.

Open Spaces

Yet another argument for meshing indoor and outdoor living spaces.

I like this variation on the Cicatrice De Luxe chandelier used above.

Such an attractive replacement of a standard railing/banister.

If I ever build a home, every structural decision will be based around the amount of light let into each area.
